Armageddon, 2012, religion, a few billion humans, and a Maya quasi-exact calendar

Could we please know what the real facts are about the Mayan prophecies of 2012?
So far my studies indicate that the 2012 stories are all false and based on counter argumentation that at the end no real information is conveyed. All lies. People say about Obama, some other say about Israel, etc.

No one really knows if the Mayan prophecies are real either, archeologists and the scholars that have studied the Mayan calendars, architecture, and culture in general of the central American natives do not mention these so called prophecies, but they do explain the calendars and systems of measurements which the Maya used to understand their place in the universe.

What really brings interest in me from the Maya is their obsession with time. Time is an interesting “illusion” which we are bound to.  The concept of time is so philosophical and so interlaced with out beings that we don’t tend to dispute its existence nor its meaning or representation.

The Armageddon idea seems to be attached with most civilizations I can think of and particularly religion.  Most religions talk about Armageddon, usually to show that there will be “the few” which will survive a catastrophic event because they have (usually) dedicated their lives to live in the particular way which every religion defines

There is a lot to admire in the ideas of our place in the universe, humans as biodiversity are an interesting exception in the realm of reality (reality as a general consensus of  “shared reality”). Humans on one side, have evolved into a super species which has been capeable to climb to the top of the food chain and used resources beyond its biological means to modify its environment. This fact makes humans an interesting exception in nature, we can be expressed probabilistically as an exception to the rule in biological diversity. In the same way, we can take the set of all the things which conform the biosphere as one huge exception in the realm of the universe. Departing from these two analogical points, the fact that a human civilization such as the Maya were so good at taking measurements of their surrounding stars and cycles could be considered as a good sign of meaning beyond religion interpretation.

Since religion tends to define the place in humans and things in reality, it is combersome to use it as a tool for exploring for understanding. Protestants departed from the ideas of religious hierarchy and divine right which 200 years later ended in the same structures they departed from. The problem lies in the fact that it lacks a system to determine the basic philosophical rules to understand reality. Humans need non biased systems to determine reality against each other. There are many ways that humans can find tools for them to free themselves from the attachment to time. In this quest, the human race could achieve states which could serve as a door to biodiversity in the universe. but the one cage we’re not comfortable in is the one which is holding us captive from our own salvation.

Just like we are an exception, there are other exceptions. Human progress have brought amazing changes on earth’s development, wether these changes are for good or for bad they have been happenning and they are not in direct control of the humans. As much as we would like to think that we are in control, we are not. Civilizations of billions are now living on earth, vast military complexes have been developed, resources are always most critical to human survival on earth. There is no one group of defined people which can control the faith or survival of the rest. Human activity is on its own an exception to the rules of human logic. humans have developed many systems to control its environment and after years of improvements it has created a system which is independent of its creator and its survival depends on humans doing their part. So as such, this system has control over its creators to a certain extent. A good analogy could be humans are to this artificial system as cell are to humans. Cells create organs and systems to help themselves but in turn created higher systems (humans) which on themselves depend on their creators (cells) but have control to a certain extent.

I will continue my topic soon.  This is a draft. Please write comments, I know that citations are needed, i will have them!

  1. i Think The end of the Year of 2012 will mean a new beginning for all humans .

I think Dr. Bahareth has the right idea… basically the “coming of the second mesiah” (in Christian terms), in the form of knowledge, understanding, and a revealing of complete “inter-connectiveness”.
